In view of the Cameroon’s government’s long term development plan which aims at making Cameroon an emerging nation by the year 2035. With an improved growth and employment strategy paper holding a vision to increase on investments and drastically curb down the present unemployment wave currently facing its fellow citizens by the year 2020, the aroused need to encourage innovative initiatives in every other sector of the nation’s economy especially with regards to Education, Health Agriculture and infrastructural development has strongly boosted varying innovative initiatives.
Relatively, according to most recent statistics for school enrollment in the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors of the country; it’s noticed that there has been a constant increase in the gross enrollment ratio as given at 4.19 in 1975 up to 24.77 in 2008 in the primary, 7.71 in 1971 up to 37.3 in 2008 in the secondary, 0.99 in1975 up to 7.82 in 2008 in the tertiary, with an approximate enrollment value of 3,201,477 pupils in the primary, 912,471 pupils in the secondary and over 215,220 vocational pupils in the year 2008 (data source: United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Institute for Statistics).
The statistics indicates a substantial 25% of the nation’s population found enrolled in educational institutions and thus generates a great need at the level of the educational institutions to foster visibility via open economies, accountability and security that are primordial requirements in achieving the nation’s 10years growth and employment strategy paper.
Counting over 800 educational institutions in only a single region (North West) of 10 in the country and of course with no consistent system to properly manage the ever increasing pupils enrollment, conduct and accountability rates of the schools; it thus aroused a great need to format the present slow, task-packed, hectic and unreliable pupil’s management system in educational institutions through a highly effective and dynamic data base system for pupil’s enrollment, conduct and academic control, financial management and facilitated information accessibility primarily within a single school campus and secondarily amongst an aggregate and/or array of educational institutions.
The school management database 1.0 which is a dynamic dual level operational data storage and communications’ mechanism for effectiveness, time management and accuracy; institutes a modern facilitation for all academic work processes running from digital enrollment procedures of pupils/students, academic and conduct records keeping, overall school work monitoring and reporting prerequisites and a central administrative evaluation and control over an aggregate number of schools.
Its design is structured to habitably accommodate the situational adjustment and actual needs of our local community schools within the sub-Saharan African countries including but not limited to language mutations, population class and cultural distinctions.
Outside the objective focus of the school management database 1.0 also inculcates a wider range of developmental needs including the spread of internet connectivity to interior localities, ICT management capacity building of the concerned community youths to manage and upgrade the system and a stimulated stretch of similar technologies into other sectors of the national economies such as agriculture, health and the judiciary.
